I’m deeply moved by this essay Kartikeya. It is hard to be balanced when your alma mater is disintegrating and, as you say, abandoning itself. But you’ve done it admirably and ethically. It’s a painful moment we stand at as a country, and global society. All we can do is think, feel and write/communicate. In the hope that new solidarities will emerge, grow and shift the winds a little. In solidarity!

Well written piece. One cannot disagree that the disappointment on reading Sanjeev's mail was far more than the silence of Ashoka University. More than standing up for the apparent 'activism' of Prof. Ali Khan Mahmudabad, it was important to stand up against the unfair arrest and prosecution of him. Universities are not about the buildings or bank balances, it is about the people who work there. If Sanjeev could not get this fact right, I am not sure why he is running an University. He is better off running another Kota prep college instead.
